Annette (Carswell) ThompsonAugust 4, 1940 ~ March 29, 2017 (age 76)
Annette (Carswell) Thompson was born on August 4, 1940 to Jesse and Mina Carswell in Dansville, Georgia. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Spiritual Israel Church and It’s Army. She served her church faithfully.
She was a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend to many. There was nothing held more dearly to her than her loved ones. She was a pillar of strength and support for all those she encountered. Whatever and whenever anyone needed her, you could always count on her, whether it was a home cooked meal, a place to stay, or simply a listening ear, her door was always open.
Our worlds were shaken on the afternoon of March 29, 2017, when she was called home. Although we are heartbroken, we know that she would want us all to be that pillar of strength that she was and “keep going on.” Today we celebrate her exemplary life of selfless giving and love.
She leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Howard Eldridge and Nathaniel (Antonette) Thompson both of Fort Wayne and Kevin Eldridge of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughters, Camilla Charlton, Karhonda Eldridge, Sheila (Anthony) Brazier, Maxine Eldridge all of Fort Wayne and Mamie (DeWayne) Harris of Winston- Salem, NC; brother, William (Sandra) Carswell; sister, Jessie Lee Jordan both of Fort Wayne; 34 grandchildren, 87 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Thompson; parents Jesse and Mina Carswell; three brothers, Isaac Carswell, Nathaniel Carswell, and Flanders Carswell Sr.; four sisters, Louise Parrish, Violet Walker, Annie Ruth Cook, and Geraldine Carswell; and one grandson, Tyrell Eldridge.
