David PettyFebruary 6, 1949 ~ August 29, 2017 (age 68)
David Petty was born February 6, 1949 to Mandy (Stone) and Douglas Lee Petty in New Market, Alabama. He departed this life on Tuesday August 29, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital. He accepted Christ at an early age and he was a devoted member and deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Albert Walker.
David enlisted in the United States Army on August 7, 1960. While he was in the Army he received an Associates Degree in Welding. He received an honorable discharge on August 6, 1971. He was employed at Navistar for over 18 years as the lead welder on site. He was also employed at Ivy Tech Community College as a Welding Instructor. He was someone to many and loved by all.
He leaves cherish his memory: his loving wife of 44 years, LaVonne Petty; three daughters, Shelise Jones of Huntsville, AL, Tracy Williams and Kelli Petty-Alexander both of Fort Wayne; four brothers; three sisters all of Huntsville, AL; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Lee and Mandy Petty; two brothers, Frank Petty and Douglas Petty, Jr. and one grandson, Yairion Moore.
