Janie L. Harris, affectionately known to many as “Granny” was born on April 28, 1938 to the proud parents of Mozella (Dodd, Harris) Hoskins and Willie Harris in Tutwiler, Mississippi.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She later moved to Fort Wayne with her mother. She was employed at Magnavox for several years before retiring.
Janie loved God! This love for God was often expressed through music. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Her passion was to worship God through music. Janie was a faithful member of DDE@COPI for over 20 years. She loved her church and her Apostle, Dr. Oscar J. Dowdell-Underwood. Her heart was to serve. Janie received her wings on Saturday, January 20, 2018.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Debbie K. Townsend of Florida; son, Roy Townsend of Georgia; brothers and sisters as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rose Scurlock; parents Mozella (Dodd-Harris) Hoskins and Willie Harris; sister, Mahalia Rozier; brother, Tyrone Harris.
