Keath Maurice PriceNovember 5, 1953 ~ July 17, 2017 (age 63)
Keath Maurice Price was born to Anna Marie (Jones) and John Richard Price Sr. on November 5, 1953 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the youngest of 5 children. He received his heavenly wings on Monday, July 17, 2017.
He accepted Christ at an early and was baptized at Zion Baptist Church in Louisville. Keath attended Central High School in Louisville where he became the school’s first black student to receive a full scholarship to the University of Louisville. At the University of Louisville, he excelled athletically basketball. He would later graduate from Purdue University at the Fort Wayne, Indiana campus.
Having family and friends in Louisville, Kentucky and Fort Wayne, Indiana, Keath settled in Fort Wayne where he worked for many employers. Those employers included Offender Aid & Restoration (OAR), Mr. Wiggs, Fort Wayne News Sentinel, CDS (in the old Sears building), Fort Wayne Urban League, Fort Wayne Community Schools and Fort Wayne Lutheran Schools as a basketball coach, and over 20 years at Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation with 10 of those years with their Lifetime Sports Academy Summer Program. His greatest career enjoyment was being a positive role model to the youth of the community. As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was well-liked and never met a stranger. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him.
Keath leaves to cherish his memory, his son, LaRonce Henderson of Los Angeles, California; two daughters, Inez Thomas and Hillary Thomas both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; four sisters, Pat (Price) Freshley of Silver Springs, Maryland, Rosilund (Price) Morgan of Los Angeles, California, Althea Price and Joyce Price both of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, John Richard of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Rodney Price of Louisville, Kentucky; one grandchild, Cheyenne McGee; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.
Keath was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Marie and John Richard Price Sr. and his sister, Theresa Ann (Price) Brooks.
