Willie Mae Early-Belcher peacefully transitioned into the presence of the Lord, on Thursday, October 26, 2017, surrounded by family and friends.

She was a member at Zion Lutheran Church, before transferring to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she faithfully worshiped till her passing. She taught her children the Lord’s Prayer, how to give God thanks, and the importance of a good education. She graduated from R. Nelson Snider High School, Fort Wayne. She displayed a strong work ethic, to the point of her home going.

In her lifetime, she worked for numerous companies, including Magnavox, The Budd Company, and Rae Magnet Wire, sometimes juggling two and three jobs, at one time. After retirement, she continued to work PT for Reliable Cleaning and volunteering at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Food Bank, up to her passing. She was a dedicated, caring, giving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, friend, and (an avid fisher, just like her mother!)

Surviving are her daughters, Dr. Tammy (Philip) Gibson and Threasa Lightning both of Fort Wayne; sons, Todd (Nicole) Belcher of Georgia, Terrell (Vanshelle) Belcher of North Carolina, Rodney Belcher and Ryan Belcher both of Fort Wayne; brothers, Alex Early of Fort Wayne, Lonnie Early of New York and William Early of Washington D.C.; beloved sister, Betty (James) Hill of Fort Wayne; special niece, Valencia Williams of Fort Wayne; faithful daughter-in-law, Felicia Belcher of Fort Wayne; loving friends and sister-in-laws, Gladys Steen of Calera, AL and Alberta Hall of Shelby, AL; stepchildren, Gilbert Belcher, Jr. of Fort Wayne, Steven Belcher of Atlanta, GA and Kevin Belcher of Texas; companion, Fletcher Nard of Fort Wayne, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Early, Sr.; husband, Gilbert L. Belcher, Sr.; son, Ronald D. Belcher; brother, Rev. John Early, Jr., and sister, Elnora Riddle.
