Willodene (Robertson) TubbsMay 2, 1940 ~ November 8, 2017 (age 77)
Willodene (Robertson) Tubbs was born May 2, 1940 in Heiberger, Alabama to Rev. John and Maggie (Tubbs) Robertson. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 8, 2017
“Dene” as she was affectionately called by family and friends accepted Christ at an early age. She was a very proud member of Greater Mount Ararat Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Ernest K. Starks. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959.
Willodene was united in holy matrimony to Nathaniel Tubbs, Sr. in September 1961; and unto this union three children were born. They were married for 49 years at the time of Nathaniel’s passing on September 18, 2010. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was employed by Fort Wayne State Developmental Center. She truly enjoyed working there and retired after having over 38 years of dedicated service. Her favorite activities included giving nice gifts, going to church, singing and listening to gospel music. She also enjoyed cooking and being around her family.
Willodene leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Connie (Jonathan) Brown and Gwendolyn Tubbs both of Fort Wayne; one son, Nathaniel (Shawn) Tubbs, Jr. of Hopkins, MN; two brothers, John D. (Clarine) Robertson of Fort Wayne and Rev. Martin (Clara) Robertson of Gardens, CA; two sisters, Pauline Robertson of Cottondale, AL and Sue Ellen Ruff of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren whom she adored, Briondis Tubbs, Shanay Tubbs, Brandon Tubbs, Sr. and Dilan Faith Tubbs; one great grandson, Brandon Tubbs, Jr.; one aunt, Estelle Robertson of Tuscaloosa, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Tubbs, Sr.; parents, Rev. John and Maggie Robertson and sister, Annie Lue Robertson.
