Doris Jeanette (Sherrod) Jackson was born September 18, 1949, to Lonnie Mae Armstrong and Wiley Sherrod in Peekskill, New York. She departed this life into eternity on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family.
Doris graduated high school and attended Cosmetology School while living in New York. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Kingdom Door Christian Worship Center, under the leadership of Pastor Harold Johnson. She was employed by GTE and retired after 32 years of dedicated service.
On June 12, 1993, she united in holy matrimony to Leroy Jackson, Jr. this past June they celebrated 26 years of marriage.
Doris enjoyed needlepoint, watching movies and going out to eat. She loved shopping, traveling, cooking and family gathering. She opened her home up to everyone and made sure that all her guests felt welcomed. She had no filter and would say what was on her mind, even if you didn’t want to hear what she had to say. She was very feisty and had a heart of gold. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by everyone who loved and adored her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted husband, Leroy Jackson, Jr.; son, David L. Robinson, Jr.; daughter, Nakia Robinson; brother, Wesley Sherrod; sister, Wyleka Sherrod all of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lonnie Mae Armstrong; father, Wiley Sherrod; brother, Ronnie Armstrong; and two grandchildren.
Doris will be laid to rest next to her mother at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Waynesboro, Georgia.
