Estella Stapleton

Estella Stapleton was born July 6, 1941 to Earlene and Nelson Robinson in Banks, Mississippi. She departed this life on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

            Estella retired from Byron Health Center after thirty years of dedicated service as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. Several years later she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. While in Indianapolis she worked as a greeter at Meijer. Later, she returned to Fort Wayne and worked at Walmart as a greeter.

            Estella loved flowers, and that was evident in her passion for gardening. She enjoyed her daily walk outdoors and listening to the melodic sounds of wind chimes. One of her favorite past times was going to the Goodwill with her sisters. She enjoyed shopping for clothing, shoes, and her many hats. She also loved western movies, her favorite television shows were “Columbo” and “Murder She Wrote”. Estella especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren, and she loved to cook. She was famous for her cornbread and sweet potato pies. You could always count on her to have a fresh pot of beans or greens when you came to visit.

            Estella leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Patricia Thomas; son, Terry (Theresa) Stapleton; sisters, Ruth Owens of Long Beach, CA, Daisie Hall, Carrie Hill, Elois Nowlin all of Fort Wayne, IN; brother, Nelson Robinson Jr. of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Desmend Mickell, Angela Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Te’Qualia Stapleton, Terrance Stapleton Sr.; great grandchildren, Ty’Vice Thomas, Zy’kira Thomas, De Mya Mickell, Destiny Mickell, Terrance Stapleton Jr., Thai’Laysia Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Also, to cherish her memory the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church family, and special friend Deacon H. “cough drop” Hall.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earlene Manuel-Robinson and Nelson Robinson Sr.; brother, Joseph Bolden; sisters, Louise Ganaway, and Earlene Martin.
