Mrs. Fay Etta Britton was born on April 16, 1942, to Percy and Esther Parsons in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved to Lexington, Kentucky as a young child where she was raised. She attended Henry Clay High School but graduated from Dunbar High School due to integration. After high school, she attended the University of Kentucky to further her education. She professed her love and faith in Jesus Christ at an early age, she was a member of the Star Bethlehem Pentecostal Church of Holiness in Lexington, Kentucky. Fay then moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in the early 1960’s and joined Grace Temple C.O.G.I.C. where she worshipped and served the Lord.
It was at Grace Temple C.O.G.I.C. where Fay met the love of her life Elder Lee Britton, Sr. They were later married, and the Lord blessed this union with two children. Fay and Elder Lee Britton, Sr. were favored with 38 years of matrimony, until his passing on May 4, 2004.
Fay retired from General Electric Company in 2002 after 36 years of employment. She dedicated her life to her family and church. She was always a source of love and support to the people she cared for. She enjoyed volunteering at her children’s school activities. She faithfully served where she worshipped beginning at Grace Temple C.O.G.I.C, then at Holy Trinity, and finally Prevailing Faith Ministries. She readily gave her time and talents to various aspects of the church such as a Sunday School Teacher, member of the Mother’s Board, and an Event Coordinator to name a few. Fay was beautiful inside and out. She was a fun loving, sweet, and selfless woman who was concerned for others, and was always ready to greet you with a hug. Her infectious sense of humor and quick wit made her a joy to be around. She believed in keeping family first, and she was the glue that bonded the family together.
The Lord called Fay home on Monday, May 14, 2018. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Lee Britton, Jr. of St. Peters, MO; daughter, Angela Britton of Hanover, MD; grandson, Jonathan Adeyokunnu of Hanover, MD; stepchildren, McKinley (Venace) Britton of Memphis, TN, Carneathea (Henry) Melson of Rochester, NY, Monique (Keith) Daniels of Gary, IN, Paulette Michelle Jones of Fort Wayne, IN; brother, Keith (Rhonda) Parsons of Aurora, IL; nephew, Vance Harris of Richmond, VA; nieces, Leatrice Warren of Lexington, KY, JeSonya Lattimore of Fort Wayne, IN, Anginette Parsons, Diamond Parsons, Darius Lee, and Sharday Carter all of Chicago, IL, Aundrea Parsons of Los Angeles, CA, Shauntiel Lech, and Venita Parsons both of Aurora, IL; and a host of step-grandchildren, uncles, cousins, and friends.
