Jimmie Cotton was born May 15, 1929 to Mary (Sanders) and John Allen Cotton in Boligee, Alabama. He departed this life on Monday, August 12, 2019, at his residence surround by his loving family.
Jimmie relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana and was employed by International Harvester. He retired after 30+ years of dedicated service. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. During the 70’s he owned and operated a business called “The Cotton House of Soul”.
Jimmie enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the 20th Century Sportsman Club for years. He also loved playing cards, going on trips to the casinos and last but not least telling jokes.
Jimmie leaves to cherish his memory three daughters; Karen Cotton of Fort Wayne, Patricia Cotton of Indianapolis and Trista Gillespie of Bowling Green, KY; three sons, Timothy Cotton, Patrick Cotton and Steve Cotton all of Fort Wayne; one step-son, Keith Wims of Alabama; 26 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Cotton; son, James L. Cotton; daughter, Lelia Royal; brothers, David Cotton and Willis Cotton; aunt, Sarah Simpson; nephews, David Cotton and John Cotton; nieces, Maggie Cotton-Adams and Gina Cotton; great niece, Jamia “Mimi” Fitzgerald.
