Kimberly Evette McHaneyFebruary 19, 1971 ~ November 14, 2017 (age 46)
Kimberly Evette McHaney also known as “Kim” was born on February 19, 1971 in Muncie, Indiana to Thomas Harris and Lila McHaney.
As a child Kim attended Muncie Community Schools, and graduated from Southside High School class of 1989. She also received a degree in Criminal Justice from ITT Tech.
Kim started her career in criminal justice at the Delaware County Jail in 1996. Kim moved to Indianapolis to advance her career working at the Department of Corrections from more than 20 years and Hendricks County Work Release for 10 years.
Kim had a passion for traveling and going to comedy shows. Kim loved to watch Shameless and Scandal with her daughter. She loved to read and listen to music, she was a very vivid Prince fan. Kim was very family oriented spending all her free time with her children and grandson. She was an excellent mother and grandmother, that supported her children in everything they did.
Kim was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer Tuesday, July 25, 2017 and lost her battle on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 12:06 am.
Kim is survived by her children, Jayden (Lawrence) Shoemaker and Jorden King; mother, Lila McHaney; grandson, Zayden Shoemaker; her second mother, Lily King; brother, John (Kimberly) McCain; aunt, Elizabeth McCain; nephews, John McCain Jr. and Brandon McCain; best friends, Karnise (James) Howard, Lesley (Mycheal) Smith-Williams, Bridgette Collins and Chereall Deboest; and a host of other family members and friends.
Kim will be met at the Heavenly Gates by her father, Thomas Harris and childhood best friend, Kimberly Nelson. Kim will be sorely missed by many for her support, friendship and guidance.
