Mary Elizabeth (Ogburn) Montague, of Muncie, departed this life on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Clarksville, Tennessee in 1931 to Harry and Janie (Baynham) Ogburn.
Mary attended Bailey Cobb Elementary school before moving to Muncie in 1944 where she and her brothers enrolled and graduated from Muncie Community Schools. She married Clint R. (Bob) Montague in 1952. From this union were born two daughters, Madeline Elizabeth and Deborah Yvonne Montague.
Mary joined Kirby Ave Church of God in 1954 where she served as an Usher, Sunday School Teacher and participated in Missionary Meetings, plus various other duties. She worked as a Domestic Engineer for over 40 years and took pride in her community and neighborhood. It wasn't unusual to see her frequent many Nursing Homes, visiting and encouraging the residents. Mary was known for her infectious laugh and giggle which would cause you to laugh along with her. She was definitely one of a kind.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Madeline E. Scott, Deborah Y. (Mark) Ivy; two brothers, Bishop Jesse T. Ogburn of Tacoma Washington and James Kelly Ogburn of Detroit, Michigan; special friend Ms. V.; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Janie Ogburn and brother Joe Ogburn.
Special thanks to Michelle Williams, Kira Hammond and the Employees of Great Lakes Caring of Kokomo, Indiana.
