Ricky, beloved husband, son, father, brother, nephew and cousin made his transition in the early morning hours on Friday, October 18, 2019.
Ricky graduated from Andrean High School where he played football on the Varsity team. After graduation, he attended Purdue Calumet, majoring in Physical Therapy. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Ricky also enjoyed playing basketball and often tried to beat his dad at the game or his neighborhood buddies Torrence, Trevor, Troy, Marvin, Andre and Ernest.
When the casinos opened in the area, Ricky expressed an interest and was hired; first as a mixologist, then as a dealer. He took classes in dealing and soon became a Blackjack dealer in the high stakes’ rooms. He worked both the Gary and East Chicago casinos and finally the Rivers Casino in Illinois.
In his thirty's, Ricky started writing poetry and would often read his poetry at local poetry events where he was known as “Pretty Ricky”.
He was an excellent cook. He would use a recipe once or twice and after that he made it his way. His homemade Jack Daniels barbecue sauce was a favorite of the family.
Somewhere along the line, Ricky became interested in motorcycles. He bought one, took lessons and enjoyed riding so much that he joined the Street Soldiers Motorcycle Club, where he reunited with a cousin, and made numerous friends that he enjoyed riding with, regardless if it was a short or long ride.
During a motorcycle trip to Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ricky met and fell in love with Ebony Smith. He soon realized that this was the woman he wanted to make his wife. He and his “Baby Girl” Marikka moved to Fort Wayne. It was there that he happily married the love of his life on August 31, 2019. At this union, he gained a daughter, Necala and a son Camren.
Ricky leaves an abundance of fond memories with his devoted wife, Ebony Mayhoe; children Marikka, Necala and Cameron all of Fort Wayne; parents, Betty (Willie) Wallace; sisters, Dr. Kathalene M. Harris of Gary and Sharon (Marquise) Thompson of Plano Texas; nephew, Matthew Thompson; in-laws, Dave and Vivian Walton; sister-in-laws, Christina Smith, Shaira Brooks and Sharrell Smith; aunts, Pamela Marshall, Donna (Larry) Smith, Marilyn Core, Burnetha Core, Teresa Core, Esther (Wallace) Mateen; uncles, George Core and Fred Core; and many cousins and special friends.
