Roosevelt Jackson Sr., was born to the parents of Robert Jackson Sr. and Rosa B. (Luckey) Jackson on July 19, 1944 in Marion, Alabama.
Tobby, as he was known to family and friends, was a Marion, Alabama native. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. Upon his arrival to Fort Wayne, Indiana, he joined Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Samuel Walker. On November 23, 2003 he received a "Certificate of Appreciation" for his many years of service.
Tobby, worked several jobs in his lifetime, unfortunately, his working career was brought to a halt when he was involved in a car accident at a young age. He loved family time, all of the judge shows, washing his car, cooking, lawn work, and reclining in his chair.
Tobby leaves to cherish his memories; Children, Yolanda Jackson, Angela (Greg) Jackson , Diane (Larry) Watson, Cheryl (Edward) Jackson, Robie (Albert) Jackson-Cohen, Roosevelt (Cherry) Jackson Jr., Brenda (Earl) Walker, Anthony Jackson, Shirley (Ricky) Martin, Darlene Jackson, Dennis Reynolds, Rosetta Holmes, and Tamekia (Jimmy) Harris; siblings, Gladys Essex, Martha Wright, Elizabeth Turner, James (Dorothy) Jackson; a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Rosa B. Jackson; sisters, Dorothy Brown, Rosa Shelton; brothers, Robert Jackson Jr., LeRoy Jackson, and an infant brother.
