Ruby Carolyn Allen was born August 24, 1939 to Ocea (Day) and James Allen in Dothan, Alabama. She departed this life on Friday October 4, 2019 at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee surrounded by her loving family.
Ruby Allen moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana with her mother Ocea at the age of four. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a woman of strong Christian faith. She was a member of Greater Progressive Baptist Church, before relocating to Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
She graduated from Central High School. She was employed by Magnavox; where she later retired after many years of dedicated service. Ruby also had passion for working with children as well as connecting and inspiring woman through her love for beauty and fashion. After retirement, she worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools as a school bus aide and teacher’s aide, and independently as an Avon representative.
Ruby Allen was a woman that possessed love, style, and grace. She loved her family and her heart was so big that many of her friends became her family. Her name says it all as one of life’s most precious jewels. May we remember and celebrate her the only way she would want us to.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her children, Kevin “Speedy” Allen, Carmen DeCarlo Allen and Michael Lamb; sister, Liz Shockley; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ocea Dansby and father, James Allen.
