Willie Bell Jr. was born in Lakeland, LA on September 12, 1944 to Minerva (Harrison) and Willie Bell Sr. He departed this earthly life on December 9, 2019 at the age of 75.
On June 28, 1975 he married Dolly Horton. To this union, Tracey Marie was born. Willie had four grandchildren Kiara, Andrew, Isaiah, and Christopher. All of whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending quality time with.
He moved to Indiana to attend college and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Indiana University. Willie used his degree to excel in sales management at Sears Roebuck & CO. for 23 years. He then worked for Auto Zone until his retirement. After “retiring” he, with Dolly’s help, was able to fulfill his dream of entrepreneurship with a janitorial distribution business.
Willie accepted Christ as a young man. He became a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church in 1978. He was involved in different groups and activities at SHBC over the years, such as, Men’s choir, Men’s fellowship, VBS, and various Youth activities to name a few.
Willie enjoyed spending time with family. He enjoyed birdwatching, yardwork, especially grass mowing, all sports, especially football. Willie took great pride in “mantime” which he called the time he spent with his grandsons getting haircuts and big lunches.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jeana Renee’, sisters: Eloise Davis & Audrey Bell, and In-laws Frank & Vera Horton.
Those left to cherish Willie’s memory are his loving wife Dolly; daughter Tracey Marie; granddaughter Kiara Nichole; grandsons Andrew Caleb, Isaiah Michael, and Christopher Lincoln; daughter Farah Hurt (Joe); sisters MaryAnn Bell, of New Orleans, LA, Mercedes Zeno (Louis “Zeke”) of Ft Walton Beach, FL; brother Emile Bell (Terri), of Houston, TX; his cherished niece Natalie Reine; treasured family friends Randy Caldwell, Tab Mathis, Caden Curry, and a host of other family, friends and beloved Church family.
