Zachary Alexander Carr

January 14, 1963 ~ February 3, 2018 (age 55)

Zachary Alexander Carr graced the world with his presence on January 14, 1963 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to William and Charlene (Springer) Carr. 

​"Zach" as he was affectionaley called by family and friends has been running for his life and was known to sprint up and down Drexel and Taber Street; where childhood memories were formed. Zach was a member of the 1981-82 Snider Panthers State Championship Team where he earned a first place medal for the 1600-meter relay with a time of 3:16.78. Zach attended Vincennes University studying Mortuary Science. He obtained his Barber's License and was a master of cuts for over 20 years.

​"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Zach's life was truly an "Amazing Grace" the melody "I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind but now I see" was his testimony. Zach rededicated his life and was a proud member of Spiritual Israel Church and Its Army; where he was ordained as a Deacon and served dutifully.

​One of Zach's many talents was his comical demeanor and the way he could intimate a Silverback, thus earning the nickname. He was always joking, telling funny stories and uplifting others. There was never a dull moment when Zach was present. His loving and kindhearted natured ways was shown to numerous family and friends who adored him deeply. He will truly be missed especially by his nieces and nephews.

​Zach crossed the finished line peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Parkview Hospital after a long illness.

​He leaves to celebrate his life two sons, Jabari Paige and Steven Paige both of Greensboro, AL; his loving and supportive parents, William and Charlene Carr of Fort Wayne, IN; two grandchildren, Jabari Paige and Steven Jovan Hoper of Greensboro, AL; two brothers, Xavier (Samantha) Carr and Derek (Natasha) Carr both of Fort Wayne; one sister, Tiffany (Will) Carr of Indianapolis, IN; twenty nieces and nephews; two uncles, Charles (Elayne) Springer, Jr. and Carl (Anita) Springer; five aunts, Ruth Harris, Essie Edwards, Elizabeth Springer-Perry, Callie Baylor and Thelma Springer; best friend, Sylvia Wade; and a host of other relatives and friends.

​Zach was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Barley and Lillie Mae Carr; maternal grandparents, Charles and Essie Mae Springer; uncle, Billy Carr; aunts, Louise Haywood-Brantley, Doris Springer and Betty Carr.
