Aubrey Richard Douglas was born April 15, 1940 to Mary (Rya) and D.C. Douglas in Fayette County, Tennessee. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. His loving wife Effie departed on the same day three years ago.
Aubrey was employed by Dana Axles and Spicer Division and retired after many years of dedicated service. He was a devoted husband and family man. He spent much of his time providing for his family.
Aubrey had many endearing names such as “Doug”, “Arby D”, “Killer” but the one that matched his character was “SLIM” (Silent, Loving, Inspiring and Meek). In his spare time, he loved to fish for carp and catfish. He enjoyed watching his children participate in sporting events from youth football, baseball and slow pitch softball tournaments.
Aubrey leaves to cherish his memory, seven sons, Phillip (Stephanie) Douglas, Tyrone Douglas, Charles Gray, Larry Gray, Donald (Costella) Gray, Victor Gray and Timothy (Carolyn) Gray; two daughters, Phyllis Douglas and Annie Gray; two sisters, Laura Mae Stewart and Katherine Haynes; and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Mae Douglas; parents, D.C. and Mary Douglas; brothers, William Allen, James Douglas, Robert Douglas, Raymond Douglas and Curtis Douglas, O.C Douglas and Booker Douglas.
Aubrey will be laid to rest next to his wife in Covington Memorial Gardens.
Considering the current COVID-19 restrictions a private service will be held and a public memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
