Bessie Mae Parker was a passionate spirited woman. She was born in a time where a southern black woman's possibilities were limited; But she didn't let any of that stop her. Mrs Parker progressed from Day Work in Alabama and New York to so much more in Indiana. Indiana was the start of a new life for Mrs Parker, her mother Beulah, and sister Josephine. In 1970 she married Simon Parker Jr and welcomed her nice Kim into the world.
With the support of her family, Bessie Parker worked hard to get her GED while she was working different jobs. A couple earlier jobs were working at The State Hospital and later on working for International Harvester. She became the first in her family to take on being a college student. And just when you thought she was finished, she was off working on something new. Whatever Bessie Parker did she left her mark on. And whoever she met they would never forget her. If you asked Mrs Parker what kept her going all these years, she would tell you her faith, trust in God, and gratitude for each day.
