Charles Edward Jones was born May 15, 1944, to the union of John and Beatrice Jones in Covington, Tennessee. He went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 18, 2021, in Fort Wayne Indiana.
Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was anointed with a voice that he used singing praises to God in testimony of how good God had been to him. He started singing at the age of five on the radio WKBL in Tennessee every Sunday morning. He also sang with Songs of Joy in Tennessee, Spiritual Harmaniers of Chicago, Independence of Gary, The Jones Family Singers of Hammond, The Chosen Wonders of Fort Wayne, Mount Calvary Male Chorus and Shepherds of Faith Male Chorus. He loved to sing!
His employment was mainly as a driver, bus, or truck. He was employed with PTC, G.E. aircraft, and retired as a driver at Ft Wayne State Development Center. Charles was the Monarch of the Jones family, and family was everything to him. His wife was everything to him, his rock, prayer partner, barber, etc.
Charles was a devoted Deacon and a faithful member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He loved serving God.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Deb Jones; seven daughters, Marilyn Riggins of Minnesota, Tiffany (Dennis) Campbell of North Carolina, Cynthia (Patrick) Williams of Michigan, Sherese (Chris) Jones, Angela Ricketts, Tondra (Edward) Wright, and TeQua (Marq) Jones; mother-in-law; sister-in-law all of Fort Wayne, four sisters, Vera (Ronald) Tillman, Gloria (Gregory) Hite both of Gary IN, Carol (Leotis) Green, Dorsey Carson; one brother, Mike Jones all of Hammond IN; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two god brothers, Olden King and Andre King both of Fort Wayne and a host of niece and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Jones; daughter, Sherry Jones; brother, John Jones Jr.; mother, Beatrice Jones; father, John Jones Sr.; sister, Evelyn Jones and two granddaughters.
Burial in Highland Park.
