Clara Bell Norwood Walker was born July 9, 1947, in Morango County, Alabama to Tom Norwood Sr. and Sarah (Griffin) Norwood. She was the eighth child of nine.
She accepted Christ at an early age at John the Hebron Baptist Missionary Church, in Safford Alabama. Clara graduated from Robert C. Hatch of Uniontown, Alabama in 1966, she then later relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was united and holy matrimony to Albert “Boe” Lee Walker in 1968, and to this union, one son was born Laflore Jervett Walker. Clara joined and her family served family at Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of her brother-in-law Dr. Samuel Walker. She continued her membership under the leadership of Pastor Michael A. Griffin and current Pastor Maurice E. Culver, Sr.
She was employed with the Fort Wayne State Developmental Center until retirement. This was the only employer she had during her lifetime. With her commitment and hard work, she was blessed to become a supervisor.
Clara was known for being loving, caring, kind, generous, and dedicated to her family. She would go to the end of the earth for her family, especially for her son and her grandson. She was known for attending every sporting event Laflore participated in with her video camera and tripod. She also equally enjoyed spending time with her grandson Jordyn from cooking him breakfast to watching him shoot basketball outside in the driveway.
Clara will be remembered by others as being a fashion statement. She loved her clothes, jewelry, and big hats. Along with her husband Boe they enjoyed looking their very best.
On Saturday morning, March 25th Clara received her Heavenly wings.
Clara was preceded in death by her loving husband Albert Walker, father, Tom Norwood Sr.; mother, Sarah Norwood; sisters, Willia Mae Smith, Ella Ree Black, Gertrude Davis, and Betty Jean Fields; brothers, Curtis Abraham, and Tom Norwood Jr.
She leaves behind to cherish her love and memories son, Laflore Jervett Walker; one grandson, Jordyn Davireon Walker; two sisters, Fannie Walker, and Beatrice Ervin; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Norwood; four brothers-in-law, Thurman (Annie) Walker, Robert Walker, William Walker, and Houston (Margaret) Walker along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many friends.
