Costella Dunbar was born November 4, 1946 to Marcella (Waxton) and Booker T. Dunbar, Sr. in Mobile, Alabama. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 27, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana with her loving family by her side.
"Stell" as she was affectionately called by family and friends accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was employed by Fort Wayne Community Schools as a bus driver. She retired after 15 1/2 years of dedicated service.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Danyeal (Damond Williams) Dunbar of Indianapolis; three sons, Anthony (Patrina) Dunbar of Indianapolis, Shelton Dunbar and Marcus Dunbar both of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Booker T. Dunbar, Jr., John (Gussie) Dunbar and Leroy Dunbar; two sisters, Hattie Dunbar and Theresa Dunbar; one sister-in-law, Bertha "Dee Dee" Dunbar all of Fort Wayne; two aunts, Mary Waxton of Fort Wayne and Evelyn Goldsmith of Moss Point, MS; 25 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren; bonus grandchildren, Britain Flowers and Keisha Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Dunbar; parents, Marcella and Booker T. Dunbar, Sr.; brother, Charles E. Dunbar; sister, Shirley Jean (Dunbar) McElvene; and special cousin, Ella Underwood.
Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery
