The journey of Curtis Ray Allen began on September 26, 1952, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to the late Charlie Allen and Cleo “Dole” Helire. He moved to Fort Wayne at an early age, where he attended Harmar Elementary School and later went on to graduate from Central High School.
He was a mechanic, an inventor, and he loved to play music, he was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, son, and brother.
On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, Curtis made his transition into “Life Everlasting” with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ – free from hurt, harm and any dangers – a journey well fought, well run and endured until the end by faith.
Curtis leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Catrina (David) Bennett, Curtis Spinks, and Cecil (Jenel) Spinks; eight granddaughters, Preosha, Jaqeila, Curteasha, Euneisha, Dashia, Dajonesty, and Cynei; one sister, Isabella Johnson; three, brothers, Jesse Allen, Donald (Barbara) Helire, and Kevin Helire; a special brother, Melvin Coker; a cousin/brother, Henry (Berneda) Smith; special nephews, Jesse (Crystal) Allen, Jr.; a long term companion, Dorothy Myatt; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo Dole-Helire; father, Charlie Allen Helire; brother, Victor Rowles; and a special nephew, Dujian Allen.
