Obituary

Dawn Denise McElvene was born on August 4, 1968, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Stephen J. McElvene and Shirley J. Dunbar-McElvene. She departed her earthly home on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital.

She attended and graduated Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and then attended Ravenscroft Beauty School where she got her Cosmetology certification. She accepted Christ at an early age where she attended and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church, where she also sung in the Young Adult Choir.

Dawn had various jobs over her lifetime until she was unable to work. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, listening to music, enjoying, and spending time with her grandchildren, also loved helping and raising other people children and punching people in their chest with love!

Dawn leaves to cherish her memories four children, Hakeem McElvene, KaDeem McElvene, Rasheida McElvene and RaSheem McElvene, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three brothers, Steven McElvene, Eric McElvene and Dominique McElvene, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one sister, LaNita Blair of Fort Wayne, Indiana; special mother, Nora Turner; special brother, Matthew Turner, both of Fort Wayne; three special sisters, LoToqua Webb of Fort Wayne, Indiana; LaVonna Webb of Tampa, Florida; and Chastity Webb-Rosse, of Lakeland, Florida; twenty-seven grandchildren, Caleb, Kamari, Da’Wuann, Jaryiah, HaKeem Jr., KaDeem Jr., Jalayshia, Kee’Mya, Trenton, Zaia, KaDayshia, Kasyiah, Zendayah, JaKyrrah, Damarriyeh, Daniel, A’Kyiah, Messiah, Arelious, Kiara, Ciara, RaSheem Jr., Keimonei, Kamryn, Daleshawn Jr., JaLliyah and A’Kyla; two special granddaughters, Jasmine Khan of Rockford, IL and Antwanasia Moore of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two special sons, Treyshawn Shoals and Laemond Kimbley, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one special daughter, Reaiah Meeks, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and a host of godchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Shirley McElvene; grandparents, Marion and Pauline McElvene, Booker T. and Marcella Dunbar; uncle, Charles Dunbar; aunt, Costella Dunbar; cousin, Rodney Dunbar, and nephew Steven McElvene, II.

Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
