DeMarcus Alonzo Walker

December 9, 1975 ~ April 11, 2020 (age 44)

DeMarcus Alonzo Walker was born December 9, 1975, to Joyce Diane (Sanders) and Houston Alonzo Walker in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized in March of 1989 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, under the leadership of his late uncle Rev. Samuel Walker, Jr.

"Marcus" as he was affectionately called by family and friends attended Fort Wayne Community Schools and graduated from R. Nelson Snider High School. He was employed by New Generation Management as a maintenance supervisor.

Through his recent battle with health challenges after being tragically assaulted, he never gave up. Sometimes in the darkest most painful moments of his battle, he would try hard to conceal it from those he loved. After a brave and courageous battle, he departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 11, 2020, while sleeping at home. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him. He loved his girls with his whole heart, family gatherings, and was an excellent handyman.

DeMarcus was a very outgoing person and he was always known to make people laugh and to put a smile on your face. He was always the same whenever you saw him.

DeMarcus was very dependable and always kept the peace and had a joke to share. He loved purchasing scratch-off lottery tickets, always looking for a big payout and shopping at Macy’s. He was an excellent football player and loved watching basketball and football “49ers 4 Life.”

DeMarcus shared the past few years with his companion, Raevyn Harris. They were preparing together for the birth of their child. He enjoyed life to the fullest by spending time with his family and friends. He would always say, “Shut the hell up!” He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.

DeMarcus leaves to cherish his memory, his companion, Raevyn Harris of Fort Wayne; two daughters; Zai'qaria Walker, DaMali Walker and an unborn child all of Fort Wayne; father, Houston Walker of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Anthony Sanders of Fort Wayne and Derek Walker of Houston, TX; two sisters, Terri Sanders of Fort Wayne and LaShonda (Stacey) Billingsley of Houston, TX; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his work family at New Generation Management.

He will be greeted in the Kingdom of Heaven by his mother, Joyce "Di" Walker; brother, LeVar D. "Bah-Bah" Walker; paternal grandparents, Samuel and Rosie Walker, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Major and Lizzie Sanders; and other loving members of his family.

Considering the current COVID-19 restrictions a private service will be held and a public memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
