DeWITT "BUGGY" McGEE JR., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022. Born Sept. 8, 1947, he was the 2nd child of Henria M. McGee and the late DeWitt B. McGee.
DeWitt graduated from Central High School in 1965 and Ball State University where he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. DeWitt was an exemplary teacher for grades K-8. In fact, a previous student of his, recently reached out to DeWitt and Jeanne to share that he also became a teacher 20 years ago because of what DeWitt instilled in him and his classmates. He also mentioned that DeWitt's mentorship is still discussed among several young men to this day. DeWitt emphasized the importance of education to all he came in contact with, especially his children. DeWitt was kind hearted, polite, and always pleasant. He used those skills during both his teaching career and as the owner of D&G's Just Ribs. He was a hard worker and dedicated to his family.
DeWitt leaves a host of family and friends. DeWitt is survived by his wife, Jeanne Powell-McGee; children, Sean, DeWayne (Heather), Anika, and Jennifer; eight grandchildren; one great- grandchild; and one grand dog. He will be greatly missed by his mother Henria M. McGee; siblings, Tonya, Valerie (Gary), Paula, Trence, Alan (Michele), Gerald (Andrea); and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. DeWitt joins his father, DeWitt B. McGee; and sisters, H. Deloris McGee Lytle, Janice Arlene Williams, and Mamie Ruth Johnson in the Garden of Eternity.
