Delaney Heard

November 9, 1955 ~ December 21, 2021 (age 66)

Obituary

Our beloved Delaney Heard was born on the ninth of November 1955 in New Madrid, Missouri to Eddie Mae Walker and Dallas Heard, Sr. As a child in New Madrid, Delaney attended O’Bannon Elementary School and New Madrid High School.

After his high school education, in 1973 Delaney traveled with his uncle Mr. Fred Walker to Fort Wayne, Indiana. At that time his uncle was working at the Holsum Bakery and Delaney was able to obtain his first employment position at this company. He was subsequently employed by Primco Industries where he worked for more than 16 years. About 15 years ago Delaney sustained a stroke which he eventually recovered from with very little physical disability.

In July 2021, our beloved Delaney sought medical consultation for pain and discomfort that he had been experiencing for a number of months. He was subsequently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Under the watchful eye of his oldest brother Mr. Dallas Walker and sister-in-law/love Mrs. JoAnn Walker, he underwent treatment for his condition and was subsequently admitted to Parkview Regional Medical Center on November 26, 2021. The aggressive nature of the illness prohibited a favorable outcome and he passed away peacefully at Parkview Randallia at 10:40 pm on Tuesday, December 21, 2021; after having spent a joyful reunion with his mother, Mrs. Eddie Mae Walker-Sander, his sisters, Mrs. Diann (James) Allison, Ms. Pamela Sanders; and his brothers, Mr. Quentin (Katie) Sanders, and Mr. George Sanders all of New Madrid, MO from December 14, 2021 to December 19, 2021.

In addition to those named above persons, our beloved Delaney also leaves to mourn his passing his sisters, Mrs. Rosemary (Glen) Jackson, Mrs. Ida (Ben) Syas, Mrs. Virgie (William) Johnson all of New Madrid, MO, Ms. Patricia Heard and Mrs. Valerie (Keith) Whitley both of Kansas City, MO; brothers, Mr. Porter Sanders, Jr. and Mr. Tommy Lee (Beverly) Strong of New Madrid, MO; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Delaney’s calm, gentle and out-going nature endeared him to friends and in-laws alike who now join the Walker, Heard and Sanders families in cherished and loving remembrances.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Dallas Heard, Sr.; sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Gates and Mrs. Ernestine Word; brother, Mr. A.G. Sanders; and stepfather, Mr. Porter Sanders, Sr.

In the midst of our sorrow and grief we yet extol the words of scripture saying, now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice and no one will take away your joy.
