Deondra “Dee-Dee” Rochelle Pinkston-Hughes was born April 24, 1972, to Marjorie Pinkston and the late Robert Rowles, Jr. in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was the first child born to her parents. She transitioned to Heaven and into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
Dee-Dee attended Fort Wayne Community Schools her entire life and eventually received her General Education Diploma and held various jobs throughout her life.
She was first introduced to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a very early age, by attending church services with her maternal grandmother, the late Maldotha Pinkston. They attended the Spiritual Israel Church and It’s Army in Fort Wayne, Indiana for many years. In her adult years, Dee-Dee accepted Christ and was baptized at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Dr. Mike Nickelson.
Dee-Dee became the mother to three wonderful children, two sons, Demetre Deandre Payton, Sr., Derondrian Rashad Hughes, and one daughter, Alayshia Thompson, who she loved dearly. Not only was she a loving mother, but she was also the best big sister, cousin, niece, and friend to all who knew her. She loved to dance, bowl and crack jokes on her family members and friends. Whenever you saw Dee-Dee, she always had a smile on her face and best believe, she was going to say something to make you smile as well.
However, the things she enjoyed most in life was her family and their love for her. You could expect something fun to happen at the spur of the moment and it always turned into a great time.
Life was not always good to Dee-Dee, but she seemed to bring joy to the people she loved and it showed in the little things she did to brighten up their day. Be it randomly giving someone a small bottle of perfume, or a large bottle of laundry detergent, or even an entire outfit! She gave what she could when she could and most importantly, she gave it from the heart.
Her two sisters, Desiree and Eavonda ”Shue” shared many years of memories, good and bad, but what will stick with them most, were the great times they’ve spent together. These are the memories that will be etched in their hearts, minds, and souls, to pass on to the legacy that she leaves behind.
One particular memory that will never be forgotten is the “ready to have a good time” quote that Dee-Dee used to get the party started. Most of you know exactly what that quote is “party on Suttenfield, woo woo woo! Party on Suttenfield, coochee coo!” She lived her life, her way and we loved her unconditionally.
Those remaining to cherish the memories of her life and her love, children, Demetre, Derondrian, and Alayshia; her loving mother, Marjorie Pinkston; companion, Bobby Goodson; five grandchildren, Jayvee, Demetre Payton, Jr., Demarion Burnett, Cashton Payton and her one and only granddaughter, Dahriah Payton-Green; three sisters, Desiree (Curtis Molton) Pinkston, Eavonda Pinkston and Terria Durden; two brothers, Chris Banks, and Jeremiah Kelly; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
