Diquan Quishawn Meriwether was born December 22, 2000 to Tara Meriwether and Diquan Bratton in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.
Diquan was introduced to Christ as his Lord and Savior as a child. He entered his adolescent years as a very social young man. He had a love for his sisters and family that words couldn't describe. With his infectious smile Diquan was known by his friends as "Smoove" and he loved to make people laugh.
Diquan had a love for sports, however basketball was his for the taking. On the court is where Diquan was able to perform. While playing for travel leagues landed him starting roles at school like Bishop Luers, Northside and New Haven High Schools. He was a high honor student from fifth grade through June 2019, when he graduated from Wayne High School.
Diquan's greatest achievement was the news of him becoming a father to his son Diquan Billingsley. He had a passion for music, he loved to create music and rapping with his cousin and brothers Demari Meriwether and Cameron Hill. "To know him was to love him".
Diquan leaves to cherish his memory his son, Diquan Billingsley; mother, Tara Meriwether; father, Diquan Bratton; mother of his son, Loretta Billingsley; all of Fort Wayne; brothers, Charles Roland and Amir Bratton both of Fort Wayne and Amarion Bratton of Chicago, IL; sisters, Dayla Alexander, E'Laysha Scruggs, Akilah Roland, Annylah Johnson, Paris Patton and Jamirah Mayes all of Fort Wayne; special brothers, Tiny Man, Ray Ray and Yaki all of Fort Wayne; grandparents, Donna Meriwether, Michael Meriwether, Danita (Lacy) Curry and Dellan Banks all of Fort Wayne; great grandfathers, Russell Thomas, Ernie Meriwether and William Bratton; great grandmother, Kay (David) Brooks; aunties, MyQueisha Bratton, La'Kreshia Jones, Tameka Brown and Lakesha Brown; special aunts, Tiyonna Meriwether and Tatiana Hill; godmother, LaQuisha Scruggs; best friend, MyKemma Woods; special friend, Arianna Parker all of Fort Wayne; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Diquan was preceded in death by his uncle, Michael Bratton; aunt, Jowanna Brown and great grandmother, Callie Thomas.
He will be laid to rest next to his uncle Michael in Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
