Evangelist Christine Sanders, 86, of Muncie, Indiana transcended this life to eternal life with the Lord on Thursday April 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by loved ones and under hospice care. Christine was born May 2, 1935, to Luther and Alberta Barnes in Lambert, Mississippi. She moved to Muncie, Indiana at the age of 5 with her family. She attended Muncie public schools and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1953. Christine was married to Joseph Harold Sanders Sr. on October 17, 1964. From their union six children were born.

For over 40 years, Christine worked in retail, starting her career at Stillman's Department Store. She was also a devoted wife and mother. Although Christine had a career, her main focus was being a servant unto the Lord. Christine received the baptism of the Holy Ghost at the tender age of 11 years old. Very active in her local church, she served as an evangelist, choir director, altar worker, and missionary under the leadership of Bishop Oscar Sanders, Elder Roger Tobey, and Bishop S. Michael Millben. She and her husband later moved to Christ Temple Anderson under the leadership of District Elder Hosea Barnes and Suffragan Bishop Eddie Robinson Jr. Her final destination was with her son, Pastor Scott T. Sanders of Rhema International Ministries in Albany, Georgia.

Christine was also active in the organization PAW, Inc. (Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.). There she served as Vice President of the Indiana State Missionary and Christian Women Auxiliary of the AB SA (Apostolic Bible Students Association) from the late '80s until 1997.

Evangelist Christine Sanders was an understated spiritual giant in the faith. Known as a holy woman who had an intense relationship with God, she encouraged her children and everyone she encountered to "fall in love with Jesus". Her main contribution to the Kingdom of God was as a spiritual midwife in working with many souls at the altar to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. She was a prayer warrior who was sought after as a spiritual mother by many to give counsel and direction according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Many were healed, delivered, set free and uplifted through her evangelistic ministry.

Preceding Christine in death are: three sisters, Catherine Davis, Reatha Robinson, and Melinda Hunt and her brothers, Elijah Barnes, Luther Barnes, Hosea Barnes, Jimmy Barnes, and Alexander Barnes. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Harold Sanders Sr.; her children, Joseph H. Sanders Jr. (Denise), Christie J. Sanders, Scott T. Sanders (Cynthia), Rhonda Sanders, DeWayne Sanders, and Dana Sanders; and her sister Sally (Katie) Childress. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and a few special friends.
