First Lady Connie Evorn (McClendon) Bush was born December 1, 1948 to Katherine (Stanley) and William McClendon in Dublin, Georgia. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
"Lady C" or "First Lady Connie" as she was affectionately called by her church family, lived most of her life in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from Central High School in 1966. She attended International Business College after graduating from Central and pursued a degree in Business Administration. She was employed by Rea Magnet Wire, where she worked for 25 years as an executive secretary. After retiring, she managed the Computer Learning Center for True Love Baptist Church, under the guidance of the late Rev. Jesse White, Sr.
On February 18, 1978, she united in holy matrimony to Elder Lester A. Bush, Jr. at Hayden Street Church of God In Christ, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. To this union three children were born, Tranell, Jason and Leslie. She was a faithful member of Dupree Memorial Church of God In Christ, where she served as First Lady (since June of 1999).
First Lady Connie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend she was loved dearly and will be truly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 42 years, Supt. Lester A. Bush, Jr.; two sons, Tranell (LaToya) Bush and Jason Bush; one daughter, Leslie (Germarcus) King all of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Breosha Young, Tranell Bush, Jr., McKlyn Bush-King, Layla Bush, Jordyn Bush and Mason King all of Fort Wayne; three brothers, William McClendon and Emery (Queenie) McClendon both of Fort Wayne and Michael McClendon of Bluffton, SC; three sisters, Dorothy (Clarence) Prince of Fort Wayne, Patricia (Phillip) Boyea of Kokomo, IN and Denise (Danny) Orr of Inkster, MI; special daughter, Dorcas Harvey; several godchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Katherine McClendon.
