Howard James Freeman

Obituary

Howard James Freeman was born March 28, 1954, in Tuskegee, Alabama to Lula Bell Freeman. His family later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Howard accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age under the leadership of Rev. CD Daniels, Greater Progressive Baptist Church, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Howard worked at Zollner Pistons from 1972 until he retired in 2012 as a lead machine operator with 40 years of service. Retirement allowed Howard to fulfill his biggest passions: fishing, hunting, and training his beagle dogs. He would often give his catches to family and friends.  Howard love gardening, cooking(especially barbecuing at home and family events).

Howard married the love of his life Henrietta Walker in 1975. This was a committed union for 46 years. Howard departed life on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.

Howard leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Henrietta Freeman; children, Chonda (Taracus) Jones of West Point, New York, Tizzy Freeman and Cherette Freeman both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren, Toree’ King of Fort Wayne, Indiana,Taniya Richardson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Rian Jones, Reagan Jones both of West Point, New York, Corlayla Martin and Amira Freeman both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; great-grandchild, Devynn Noelle Waller of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brothers, Crawford (Margaret) Freeman of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Charles Freeman of Charlotte, North Carolina, Tyrone (Ana) Freeman and Marvin (Tracee) Freeman both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sisters, Dorothy Freeman, Patricia Freeman, Margaret (Courtney) Logan, Betheina Freeman and Krista Freeman all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; mother-in-law, Florence Walker, sisters-in-law, Cheryl Matthews and Georgiana Brooks all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Howard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Emma Freeman; mother, Lula Bell Freeman; brothers, John Freeman, George Freeman and Herbert Freeman; father-in-law, George Walker; and great-grandchildren, D’Angelo Waller Jr. and D’AndreWaller.
