Janet Lewis

Janet Marie Lewis was born July 20, 1950 in Evansville, IN to the parents of George William Lewis, Sr of Evansville IN and Ozbell Merriweather Lewis of Clarksville, TN. Janet is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother George William Lewis Jr. of Atlanta, GA and George’s son Antonio Woods of TN. Janet was employed by City of Fort Wayne Economic Dev., Police and Fire Depts. She retired after 20 years. She worked long and hard to receive an Associate’s Degree from IVY Tech, Fort Wayne Extension. She also attended IPFW. Furthering her education was a lifelong dream. Janet was the loving and dedicated mother of a son Jemiel Kadier Lewis. Other survivors are her two sisters Patricia A. Lewis of Texas, Phyllis J. Lewis (Richard) Harris of Fort Wayne, IN and her sister-in-law Margaret Faye (George) Lewis of Atlanta, GA. Janet has been a loving aunt to all her nephews and nieces. Nephews: Jermain Lewis, Jeremy Easley. Great nephews: Tajeh Banks, Chase Barnes, Markevious Woods, Antonio Woods Jr, Antonio Woods III, and Latearius Curry-Woods. Nieces: Casandra Hodge, Erica Howard Robinson, Shante’ Howard, Consuela Howard. Great nieces: Keriyona Woods, Autumn Lewis, China Howard, Taylor Decarava, Dajanique Hatch, Malaya Austion, A’zariyah Woods.

Janet loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul. She was a God-fearing woman who looked to the Lord on all decisions she made throughout her life. She was called home to be with the Lord on September 4th, 2022. Janet will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends. We love you Janet
