Laquetta Denise Weeks was born December 11, 1960 to Ruth E. and Frank A. Washington Sr. in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She attended South Side High School of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was employed by Power Wheels and East Allen County Schools.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age, and was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Mack Magee Sr. She was a faithful member of the gospel chorus, usher board and red circle. Later she became a member of Heaven 2 Earth Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Mitchell N. Griffin. She served over the hospitality team and sang with the praise choir team. She enjoyed being with her family and loved ones. She loved cooking for everyone. She also loved taking care of Capone and Sosa her puppies which she referred to as “Her Uses”.
After a brave and courageous battle, she departed this earthly life on Wednesday March 25, 2020 at home in the arms of her loving mother. She will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Laquetta leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Willie Weeks and Laquan Weeks both of Fort Wayne, IN; stepson, Khalil Williams of Tampa, Florida; grandson, Amor Weeks; mother, Ruth E. Washington; four brothers, Frank A. Washington Jr. of Piqua, Ohio, Frank A. Washington II of St. Louis, MO, Lucius R. (Mary) Washington and Darrel L. Washington both of Fort Wayne; three sisters, Carolyn Dunn of Muncie, IN; Mary (Todd) Merriweather and Victoria (Kevin) Clark both of St Louis, MO; special niece, Roshanda Thatcher; special grandson, Caden Harrison; companion and best friend, Kevin Lamb of Fort Wayne, IN; as well as her Weeks sisters and an enormous number of family and friends from the community.
She will be greeted in the Kingdom of Heaven by her late husband and soul mate, William E. “Willie” Weeks; loving twins, Joshua Weeks and Jamika Weeks; father, Frank Washington Sr.; mother-in-law, Hattie Weeks; as well as other loving members of her family.
Laquetta will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Park
Considering the current COVID-19 restrictions a private service will be held and a public memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
