Larry Benjamin Martin, Sr. was born October 10, 1954 to Yvonne (Cannon) and L.C. Martin, Sr. in Marion, Alabama. He passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020. He attended Fort Wayne Community Schools.
Larry was known as the Mayor of Pontiac Street. He was a creator and a well known entrepreneur who had a passion for building things with a strong belief in family. Larry owned his own business a Mechanic and Auto Body Repair Body Shop for over 30 years, the enterprise remains in the heart of the city on South Pontiac Street.
Larry was a proud servant of his community and enjoyed spending time with his family. One of his passions were repairing classic cars and cruising through the city.
Larry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lindsay C. Martin; sons, Larry Martin Jr., Shontrell Martin, Chickaro Martin and Fred Collins; daughters, Karlene Martin, Laritha Martin, Kandance Martin, Sierra Martin, Francesca Collins and Felicia Collins; 16 grandchildren, one great grandchild; father, L.C (Carloyn) Martin; brothers, Antwon Martin, Wade (Bertha) Martin, Rodney Burroughs and Andre (Suzzane) Gibson; sisters, Jeanette Wedlow, Ruby (Herbert) Harrison , Arlene Martin-Townsend, Wanda Martin, Veronica (Ronnie) Holman, Tonya Gibson and Linda (Johnny) Cannady; a very special uncle, McCaudis “Mac” Cannon; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne (Cannon) Martin; brothers, David Martin and L.C Martin Jr.; maternal grandparents, Cleveland and Ruby Cannon; paternal grandparents, Dave and Bessie Martin; grandchild, Malcolm Collins and niece, Tameka Suel.
