Luther Samuel Martin, Sr. was born October 18, 1948 to Ella (Stephens) and Willie Martin in Uniontown, Alabama. He passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
Luther graduated form R.C. Hatch High School in Uniontown, Alabama. He attended and was baptized at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Uniontown. Upon completion of High School, he went to trade school in Atlanta, Georgia. He relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana and attended Jerusalem Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist.
Luther united in holy matrimony to Gail Scott on the last day of February in 1969, and unto this union two sons were born Luther Jr. and Charles. They were married for 51 years.
“Skeets” as she was affectionately called by family and friends was a over the road truck driver and a heavy-duty equipment mover. He enlisted in the United State Army on March 4, 1969 and received an honorable discharge on March 9, 1971.
Luther leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Gail Martin; son, Charles “Tony” (Carmen) Martin, Sr.; grandson, Charles “Buba” Martin, Jr.; granddaughters, Tamia “Me-Me) and Keianna “Ke-Ke”; stepmother, Nancy Clark all of Fort Wayne; brothers, Gregory Martin of Fort Wayne and Dana (Emily) Martin of Atlanta, GA; sister, Radafay Martin of Fort Wayne; sisters-in-law, Adrienne Bostwick of Fort Wayne, Cheryl (Minister Larry Sr.) Harrison of Franklin, TN, Karen (Alex Jr.) Early of Stockton, CA, Elizabeth Grizzard and Janet (Samuel) Spann both of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Skeets was preceded in death by his son, Luther Martin, Jr.; great grandson, DeMarcus Martin; parents, Ella Turner and Willie Martin; brothers, Willie Ed Martin, Andre Anthony, and Derrick Stephens.
