Marcella Roxina (Young) Kelsaw was born on Friday, October 4, 1935 to Charles Watkins and Minnie Mae Young at Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She was 6 years old when she, her grandmother and sister moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. She attended Central High School where she was the Majorette. She received her GED at East Wayne Street Center on June 6, 1990 by Susan Bayh, the former Senator’s wife.
She met and married the love of her life, Lore Kelsaw, Sr. March 19, 1958 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. With this wonderful union, 3 girls and 4 boys filled their home with joy. Also within this union, they were known as the Best Dance Couple in Fort Wayne (prior to their walk in holiness).
Marcella attended Pilgrim Baptist Church with her family. In 1978, she became a member of Wings of Deliverance Tabernacle Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Jimmie Clark, Sr. and current pastor, Elder Robert Clark. Marcella was SAVED, SANCTIFIED, AND TRULY FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST AND THE POWER WITHIN! HALLELUJAH! She was actively involved in many ministries, which include choir member, jail/prison ministry, rescue mission, church mother’s board, altar call worker, missionary, and co-founder of the Mighty Warriors of Zion singing group. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 121.
Marcella most enjoyable employment consisted of Executive Secretary at Magnavox and State Highway Commission. She retired from Sears Catalog in 1993.
Marcella was an advocate bowler. She was the secretary of the Guys and Dolls Bowling League for several years.
Her bowling continued. She holds the WII Bowling and Bingo Champion of Heritage Park Assisted Living.
She believed in self-teaching herself skills, which includes typing, short hand, and sewing. Her writing skills were stylistic.
Her favorite colors? Fall colors.
Marcella transitioned to be with the Lord on Monday, May 2, 2022.
Here to continue her legacy are her children Lore Kelsaw, Jr., Lyle (Janice) Kelsaw, Rhonda Collins, Landis Kelsaw, and Sauna (Terroca) Parker; all of Fort Wayne, IN; 24 grandchildren; 73 great children; 9 great-great grandchildren; her godchildren, Marshall White, Pam Holder, Danny Nellems, Vanessa Givands.
Those who have gone before her are her loving husband, Lore Kelsaw, Sr.; her mother, Minnie Mae Young; her grandmother, Marcella Forbes; her grandfather, Elijah Forbes; her sister, Eunice Briggs, her daughter and son-in-law, Eunice and Charles Taylor, and her daughter-in-law, Jackie Kelsaw, great granddaughter, Trinity Johnson; and great-great grandson, J’Noah McClure and others.
