Patrick Edward Hicks was born March 17, 1942 in Acmar, Alabama to the union of the late Charlie and Louise Hicks. He was the fifth of seven children. Charles, Lewellyn, Leotis, Dorothy, Stella and Christina whom preceded him in death.
Patrick moved to Detroit, Michigan at an early age. He was educated in the Detroit Public School system before moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he attended Central High. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior.
Pat met and married Shirley Brookshire March 16, 1996. He was the love of her life and she affectionately called him “Bookie”.
“Pat” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends worked for Zollner Piston for 30 years. Pat was known for his famous bar-b-que sauce. He loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid card player and loved a good game of spades.
Patrick leaves to cherish his memory wife Shirley, two sons Patrick Jr. and Andre, two stepdaughters Africa (Jerry) Lockett and Tashia Brookshire, step son Tracy Brookshire, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 brother in laws, Michael Brookshire and Eric Akison, 2 aunts, Lucretia Brown and Euralene Chapman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
