Robert Stevenson was born January 29, 1927, to Luke and Clorie Stevenson in Uniontown, Alabama. He departed this life on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was raised in a good Christian home and was a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. King. In 1945, Robert moved to Fort Wayne where he joined Pilgrim Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. John Dixie. In 1961, Robert joined Jerusalem Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Samuel Walker, Jr. At Jerusalem Baptist Church, he joined the Gospel Chorus, and was a Deacon. In 1988, he became an Ordained Minister. At the time of his passing, he was an active member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Maurice Culver.
Robert served in the Korean war. Upon his honorable release from active duty, he joined the Army Reserve. He was an employee at International Harvester where he retired after over 32 years of service.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory; five sons, Robert (Joyce) Studamire, Frederick (Gwendolyn) Stevenson, Minister Ronald (Evelyn) Stevenson, Bernard Stevenson and Rev. Lance (LaDana) Houston, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three daughters, Tombra Wright, Debra (Rodney) Wright and Shahn Stevenson all of Fort Wayne; special son, Winston Wright; special daughter/grand-daughter, Antwanette Lashley; prayer partner, Yolanda (Rev. Kim) Curry; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Robert loved his visits from all of his nephews. After every visit he would thank us for the flower.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Stevenson; two brothers, St. Luke Stevenson and Alex Birl; two sisters, Bessie Williams and Matilda Johnson
