Ronald Houston was born February 24, 1957 to Geraldine (Dawson) and Albert Houston in Cairo, Illinois. He departed peacefully early Saturday morning December 28, 2019 of an extended illness.
"Ron" as he was affectionately called accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Holy City C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of Elder Grady G. Johnson, where he served until he moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in the early 80's. He was employed as a dry cleaners presser until he retired. He joined Victory Fellowship Church of God in 2002 (now Destiny Life Center Church of God) under the pastorate of the late Rev. W. Doyle Staton, Jr. and son, Pastor Warren Staton, Jr. He was baptized and became an extraordinary steward in his time and treasure in the house of the Lord.
In June 2015, he was ordained as a Deacon by Bishop G.A. Thompson and Pastor Karen Staton, where he faithfully executed the office with joy, dedication and commitment. Even in his health challenges, you never heard him complaining or making excuses, even though to many it seemed he had plenty reasons too. He was always gentle, loving and praising his Savior.
Ron leaves to mourn his passing three sisters, Wilma "Baby Girl" (Lee) Houston-Carter, Delores "Lois" (Skip) Houston-Pollard and Helen Houston; one grandson, Terrod Vaughn; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stacyi M. Vaughn; parents, Albert and Geraldine Houston; brothers, Charles C. Houston, Lewis Houston, David Houston, Jerry Houston, Terry Houston and Russell Houston; sisters, Dorothy Mae Houston and Helen Houston #1; special friend, Marcia Vaughn; aunts, Willie Mae Flowers and Rosie Dawson; uncle, Paul Flowers; and beloved cousin, Henry Houston.
