Roy Anthony

Mr. Roy E. Anthony, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Friday March 24, 2023, surrounded by his family. Roy was born on July 25, 1956, in Muncie Indiana to John and Mary Anthony. 

Roy graduated from Burris Laboratory School and went on to be a master carpenter by trade. Roy Anthony was more than a carpenter, he was an artist!  A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands, his brain, and his heart, is an artist. Roy put his heart into every project. 

Roy gave his life to the Lord and was baptized on December 12, 1999, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Larry McCoy. Roy loved music and was a self-taught drummer. Roy was instrumental in starting many bands, most current being Hines Street Sounds. Roy loved to barbeque and have family dinners at his home. Family was everything to him.

Roy was a loving Father and leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, LaCrea and Crystal Anthony of Muncie; four grandchildren, Tyler and Tarryn Childers, A’Vion Mason, and Trevon Anthony all of Muncie, two great-grandchildren, Drennon and Nalayah Childers of Muncie; A sister Annie (William) Harris; a sister-in-law, Brenda Anthony of Kingston, N.C; Uncle, Eddie (Fronia) Stigler, a special friend and life-partner Shirley Anthony; special cousins, Eddie Stigler and Caroline Leavell; special friends, Darrell Cooper, George Johnson, Keith Mosley and his Hines Street Band members; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. 

Roy was preceded in death by his parents (John and Mary); brothers, John, Lacy, Leon, Ray, Ervin, and Charles Anthony; sister, Bobby Jean Anthony; a sister-in-law Johnnie Mae Anthony.
