Sarah Ann (Patton) Lowery, daughter of the late Estella and Amos Patton, was born on August 14, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana. On November 04, 1962 she married William Lowery and they remained husband and wife for over 57 years.
She was introduced to God at an early age, however it took the loving and kind patience that only God can give that drew her to Christ as her Lord and Savior. She moved to Fort Wayne in 1961 from Dunkirk, Indiana having graduated Salutatorian in her class. She was employed with General Electric for 30 years as administrator, head dispatcher, and regional Quality Assurance representative, as well as various other positions. She served her community through volunteer mentoring providing guidance to local at-risk young women.
She served faithfully as a member of McKey Street and New Hope Church of God working as Deaconess, Church Mother, secretary, and Sunday School teacher. For over fifteen years she was co-chair of the Destiny Life Center Prayer Partners phone line prayer circle where twice daily, they took requests before God. She was committed to ministry with a great smile and infectious laugh which allowed her to reach a wide variety of people. Even when she moved to a long-term care facility, she continued to share the “good news” and emphatically proclaim the goodness of God to all she came in contact with. The impact of her spirit could be felt throughout each facility from caretakers, to nurses, to other residents.
She was preceded in eternal rest by her siblings Amos Patton Jr, and Ruth Davis as well as her grandmother Ada Jones who raised her.
She is survived by her husband, William C.; daughter, Anita of Fort Wayne; sons, William Jr. of Philadelphia, Michael of Fort Wayne and Von of Newport News, Va.; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Georgette of Indianapolis, Karen, Patricia and Diane, all of Fort Wayne; brothers, Tyrone and Scottie, both of Fort Wayne.
