Sylvester's Journey

 

Sylvester John Alexander was born on September 10, 1941 in Selma, Alabama to the late Charles and Leila Alexander.

Sylvester transitioned into eternity on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Wayne, Indiana under the leadership of Pastor John U. Minion, Sr.

He loved cowboy movies, with Gunsmoke being his favorite. His favorite color was any shade of blue. He was the family’s historian. He loved being around family.

He worked many jobs in his lifetime. He was most known working at Phil’s Market.

As Sylvester (John) made his transition, he left behind his loving and devoted companion of 16 years, Joyce Tubbs and children, Yvette (Leroy) Davis, Kevin (Sharon) Morris.

His loving wife of 25 years, Eva Alexander, preceded him in death. 

He leaves to cherish his memories; his children, Loretta (Terry) White of Akron, Ohio; his sister, Eloise Perry, Margaret, Alabama; his brothers, Charles Alexander and his companion Rita Harris, Detroit, Michigan; Assistant Pastor Nathaniel (Cyldner) Alexander, Indianapolis, Indiana; special sister; Alene Minniefield, Cincinnati, Ohio; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry James, Elijah, Jessie, and Joe; his sisters Carrie Lee, Dorothy, Daisy, Ateria, and Virginia; his daugher, Della.

Sylvester will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
