Obituary

 

THOMAS GUY, JR., was born February 17,1933 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Thomas “Buster” and Willie Mae (Griggs) Guy.  Thomas moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana during childhood with his family and accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age…he attended Zion Lutheran Church.  Thomas graduated from Central High School and attended Ball State University.  He was an employee of Uniroyal Goodrich for many years until he retired.

T – Thomas was inducted into the African/African American Historical Society Museum on June 27, 2001 as an Outstanding Athlete of the Century…he pitched professional softball traveling all over the country winning awards.

H – Thomas had a heart of gold and was a handsome man on the inside as well as the outside.  He was loved very much by everyone.

O – Thomas was omnivorous when it came to good food.  He loved to eat and was king of the grill.  He loved to dance to old-school music.

M – Thomas was magnificent generous man whom was kind, loving, patient and compassionate.  Definitely a “man-sized” man.  He looked forward to and enjoyed many weekly professional massages from his sister.

A – Thomas was appreciated and adored by his grandchildren as well as other family members.  He was also an avid fisherman.

S – Thomas was a living saint who always put his family’s needs first.  He was an unobtrusive “peaceful man.”

Thomas Guy, Jr. departed this life and transitioned into the presence of the Lord on January 31, 2022.

Thomas leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 47 years, Louise; three sons, Joey Guy of Indianapolis, IN, Tracy Guy of Fort Wayne, IN, and Damien Guy of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter, Terri Guy-Cook of Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Altermease Gleason of Fort Wayne, IN; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Thomas was preceded in death by his father and mother; brother, Robert “Lepo” Guy; sister, Dorothy Bates; son, Thomas Guy III; one grandson, and one great-grandson; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that have stretched out their arms to welcome him into the Kingdom of Christ.
